TRC Day 2024

On April 11, it was again time for the annual Translational Research Centre (TRC) Day, which brings together all the exciting translational clinical research performed in our 6M building. Furthermore, it was a chance for everyone to learn what kind of advanced instrumentation is available in our building, from a holographic non-invasive imaging device for living cells, to our atomic force microscope.

The day featured many exciting talks, with five keynote speakers as well as many short talks. Two of the six keynote lectures featured cutting-edge cancer research, presented by Maréne Landström and Daniel Öhlund. Our department of Clinical Microbiology was also well-represented with two keynotes, by young PIs Annasara Lenman and Laura Carroll. Additionally, our department ran away with both the short talk prize and the poster prize: congratulations Tessy Hick and Marie Peters, respectively!

Our group was represented by a talk by Dario and two posters by Sarah and our ERASMUS student Laura Salinas. Many were interested in our biophysical approach to microbiology questions, and we were happy to explain how it all works. Laura did a great job with her first conference poster, detailing her excellent work on production and characterization of fluorescent coronavirus particles. Congratulations on this Laura! It was again an inspiring day with exciting research, which we are happy to be a part of!
