Marta has been awarded a consolidator grant from the Swedish Research Council (VR). This generous career grant will support research activities in the Bally lab for the coming 6 years. The project entitled “Filovirus interactions on the cell surface: finding the sweet spot” uses a combination of virology, glycobiology, and biophysical methods to study how virus attachment, detachment, and diffusion of the deadly Ebola and Marburg viruses are modulated at the cell surface.
This grant was one of only five VR Consolidator Grants awarded in 2020 by the Swedish Research Council to support research within virology. Our department actually received three of the five, an extraordinary achievement and a testament to the strength of our research environment at Umeå University.
